Wigan Wetbelts ("we", "us") is a vehicle repair workshop at Unit 2E, Cricket Street, Wigan, WN6 7TP. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through wiganwetbelts.co.uk. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you have any questions, contact us at wiganwetbelts@gmail.com or on 01942 800252.

1. What we collect

2. Why we collect it and our lawful basis

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third party marketing.

3. Vehicle registration lookup

If you use the "Find my vehicle" feature, the registration you enter is sent to a vehicle data provider to identify the make, model and engine, so we can quote accurately. Only the registration is sent, none of your personal contact details.

4. Who processes your data for us

These providers act under their own security commitments and, where based outside the UK, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep it

Quote enquiries are kept while we may still do the work and for our business records, normally no longer than 24 months from your last contact with us, unless the quote becomes a job, in which case invoice records are kept for 6 years as required by HMRC. You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner at any time.

6. Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores a small amount of data in your own browser only: your light or dark mode choice, and a temporary backup of the quote form so your details are not lost if the page reloads. This never leaves your device and you can clear it in your browser settings at any time.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email wiganwetbelts@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
